MOOD is committed to using clean, potent ingredients that help skin be at  its best. Learn about some of our star ingredients and how they can help you achieve your skin care goals.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is naturally produced by the body and as a humectant, it draws moisture to the tissue, giving skin its plump and rejuvenated look. But as we age, the production of HA is slowed and as a result, fine lines and wrinkles can form. Many hyaluronic acid serums that promise to address the issue only include one molecular weight of HA, which provides moisture solely to the surface layer of the skin. MOOD serums contain three weights of hyaluronic acid, which are delivered to three tissue layers, thoroughly moisturizing skin and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles from within.

turmeric (curcuma longa)

Used medicinally for over 5,000 years, turmeric is known to be a strong anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. Present in MOOD's ILLUMINATE Skin Brightening Face + Hand Serum as well as the lip brightening balm, turmeric is also a potent skin brightening ingredient that helps regulate the excess production of melanin. While many synthetic brightening agents are not safe for all skin types and tones, MOOD's ILLUMINATE line is skin tone and type inclusive.

zinc oxide as physical sunscreen

Chemical sunscreen ingredients such as oxybenzone and avobenzone are known irritants and hormone blockers. They permeate the skin and enter the blood stream, absorbing UV rays. With an increasing number of studies linking such ingredients to cancer, physical sunscreens are a safer choice. MOOD's DEFEND SPF 30 Face + Hand every day sunscreen goes on clear and protects skin throughout the day from broad range rays including UVA / UVB as well as High Energy Visible (HEV) light, or blue light as it is most commonly known.

manuka honey

We love ingredients that have multiple benefits in one. Manuka honey is both a humectant - draws moisturize to the tissue - and a natural antibacterial. With society's heightened awareness of the importance of keeping areas like eyes and mouth free from bacteria, natural antiseptics that do not dry out the skin like its alcohol-based alternatives are especially welcome. Manuka honey is present in all MOOD CBD lip balms

vitamin c

If we had to pick one word to describe its multitude of benefits to skin, it would be: DETOX. A powerful antioxidant, Vitamin C works to neutralize free radicals that age and damage tissue cells. Vitamin C also works hand-in-hand with other ingredients to brighten skin naturally and safely. It's important to note that to be effective, a product must have at least 10% Vitamin C contents. MOOD serums containing Vitamin C have 15% content, which is found to be effective without causing irritation.

retinaldehyde (vitamin a)

Meet retinaldehyde, retinol's more powerful cousin. All part of the Vitamin A family, retinaldehyde is the most potent form of Vitamin A one can get without a prescription. Like retinol, it helps with cell turnover, brightening skin, and promotes the production of collagen and elastin - but it does it about 11X faster than retinol. A powerful ingredient to be used at night to avoid sun exposure, it is only present in MOOD's ILLUMINATE Skin Brightening Face + Hand Serum

Interacting with our endocannabinoid network, cannabinoids have a variety of benefits to our health. The receptors are located throughout the body, notably in skin. CBD is the best known cannabinoid and has a wide range of studied effects that include reduction of anxiety and anti-inflammatory properties.

However, it's not the only one. CBG is showing to have a multitude of benefits specifically to skin, including being a powerful antioxidant, antibacterial and is even being studied for the slowing of cancer cell growth.

All MOOD products contain potent concentrations of broad spectrum CBD and CBG, while leaving out any THC - the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis. This helps with permeation of other powerful ingredients used in MOOD products while also mitigating any irritation or inflammation they may otherwise have on sensitive skin. Imagine CBD as the mediator between all the kids on the block, making sure they play nice and do their best work for your skin.
